Celebration of Christmas masses today on the 25th of December has been colouful as usual in most Catholic Churches.

Churches have been filled with worshipers who strictly observed the Standard Operating Procedures SOPs against the spread of Covid-19 and have been treated to marvarious melodies of Christmas Hymns from the Choirs.

At Lubaga Cathedral the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Kampala, area members of parliament among other dignitaries attended the 10 O’clock mass that was led by the retire Pope Nuncio to Belgium Archbishop Augustine Kasujja.

Archbishop Kasujja started by showing the wave of suffering caused by the deadly pandemic, loss of dear ones, jobs, economies and in Uganda the closure of the schools have greatly affected people socially, psychologically and economically.

He however said the four weeks of advent that lead to Christmas help in preparing Christians to have hope and consolation in the new borne son of God Emmanuel.

He said individual examination and support to others is highly needed because although Covid is still ravaging the world, there are other diseases and problems affecting society which calls for individual contribution to solve them.

Archbishop Kasujja challenged the congregation to be mindful of brotherly heart which is dying out, individualism, greed and egoism among other weaknesses can be avoided by taking penance void of deceit.

He referred to Pope Francis’ call for humility and service above self.

Archbishop Kasujja praised the lord for the many achieves that have also been registered including the appointment of Archbishop elect for the Archdiocese of Kampala Bishop Paul Ssemogerere who requested to remain in his diocese of Kasana Luwero until he will officially leave his service in that diocese where he has been since 2008.
