The Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference, Bishop Joseph Anthony Zziwa has called on Ugandans to live the Christmas spirit and allow Christ to dwell in their hearts, families and in the society as they celebrate this year’s birth of Jesus.

He made this call at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat at Nsambya as he delivered the Conference’s Christmas message before journalists.

He first thanked God for giving Ugandans another chance to celebrate Christmas in a turbulent year that has been characterized by uncertainties including among the Covid-19 pandemic and its resultant lockdowns.

Bishop Zziwa who is also the Ordinary of the Kiyinda-Mityana Catholic Diocese also decried some vices like the continued wanton loss of lives due criminalities, inadequate health care and other evils like the domestic violence which was on the rise in many homes during the lockdown period.

He also touched on the issue of refugees where he asked regional leaders to find a lasting solution to the causes, leading to the high number of refugees in the East African region.

Bishop Zziwa concluded by welcoming the newly appointed Bishops in the course of this year who include His Grace Paul Ssemogerere of Kampala Archdiocese and Bishop Raphael Wokorach of Nebbi Catholic diocese.
