The 2019 road user satisfaction survey that was carried out between February and march this year indicate that 57% of Ugandans feel satisfied with the road networks in the country .

This random survey was done by selecting and interviewing road users at predetermined points on public roads, city roads ,district roads ,urban roads and municipal authorities.

In the report read by the executive director of Uganda road fund Michael Odongo at the Uganda media centre it revealed that the highest satisfaction was observed in Western and eastern Uganda and this is attributed to better maintenance and rehabilitation, road widening, quicker journey times among others.

However in central Kampala inclusive and Northern Uganda are not satisfied with Uganda’s roads due to narrow road width ,potholes ,inadequate maintenance ,poor drainage and dust among others .

The reports also highlights that 58% of Ugandans from western and eastern feel safe on roads due to eateries ,fuel stations and police posts on most roads though 56% of Ugandans in central and Northern Uganda don’t feel safe on roads due to poor signage ,reckless driving ,potholes and dust among others .

The report recommends the ministry of works and transport should undertake more measures to improve road safety by ensuring that road designs cater for the needs of special interest road user groups among others.
