Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mubeti II has commended the United Nations for drawing attention and brokering partnerships to address the environmental and climate change crisis facing the world.

His Majesty has also commended the UN Environment Programme-UNEP, United Nations Development Programme-UNDP and other UN agencies such as FAO, UNICEF and UNESCO for their support towards the same.

In His Speech delivered by the Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda during the 2019 Global Landscapes Forum at the International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana, Kabaka pointed out that the pivotal role played by Non-state actors such as traditional leaders and cultural institutions is very instrumental in the Protection and management of natural resources within communities.

Kabaka added that Buganda Kingdom welcomes the Partnership with the UN, Asantehene of Ghana and other cultural keepers to further their work on environmental protection.

Nnabagereka revealed that the Kingdom of Buganda will remain committed and at the forefront of campaigning for protection of the environment including wetlands and forests and will continue to be a champion in these matters.
