The rotary club of Kampala has launched the 2022 cancer run slated for 4th of September, 2022 at Kololo airstrip.

The run is aimed at fundraising over UGX 13 billion as part of the support in the construction of the cancer center and this time they want to purchase and install a radioactivity Machine at Nsambya Hospital.

The Centenary Bank Managing Director Fabian Kasi who is the chairman of 2022 rotary cancer run, at the launch of the campaign on Tuesday at Nsambya Hospital said that the institution, which is one of the stakeholders in the project have injected Shs150m to support the cause.

Kasi adds that the construction of the Cancer centre at Nsambya hospital is expected to be completed by 2025 and will handle different categories of cancer cases such as leukemia, prostate, breast cancers among others.

Meanwhile, the Nsambya Hospital CEO Dr. Andrew Ssekitooleko has said that the installation of radioactivity machine will examine patients diagnosed with different cancers while the human resource is to receive specialized training and doctors from Indian and Kenyan to be in position to handle cancer cases with the associated machines.

He has hailed all sponsors and supporters of rotary club of Kampala for their efforts of pushing the struggle to fight cancers in Uganda before rallying Ugandans to participate in the 2022 Cancer run.
