Airtel Uganda, a telecom company has contributed at least UGX 20 million towards the Makerere University Centenary Celebrations in a series of planned activities.

As part of the preliminary activities towards the celebrations, Makerere University started a fundraising drive to raise funds for improving the infrastructure at East Africa’s oldest University in this year long celebrations that started in October 2021 and will end in October 2022.

The Human Resource Director at Airtel Uganda, Flavia Lwanga while handing over the check to university authorities appreciated the role played by Makerere University in training of professionals in various academic fields contributing to the social economic transformation of Uganda.

The Vice Chancellor, Makerere University, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe while receiving the Cheque commended Airtel for coming out to support the university praying for such more partnerships and projects that can increase the stock of innovations and access to technology- which assists in teaching, learning, research, and development.

The celebrations marking Makerere University’s hundred years are year-long-scheduled activities, with the final event slated for October 2022.
