The State Minister for Energy Sidronius Opolot together with officials from the ministry have been chased by the parliamentary Adhoc Committee on Bujagali until next week on Tuesday for failure to provide satisfactory information on the Bujagali hydro power project.

The officials were expected before the committee to produce relevant documents concerning the share holding agreement between the government and Bujagali Energy Limited, Implementation Agreement, Power purchasing agreement and Liquidity and Facility agreement.

The committee chaired by the Sheema Municipality MP Dickson Kateshumba was also stunned to learn that the said Bujagali Energy Limited signed agreements in 2005 yet it was incorporated in 2007.

Previously, parliament directed investigations into the power project after finding irregularities among which was granting Bujagali 5 years tax exemptions, failure to complete the dam on time and hiking of power tariff prices which opposition in parliament contested and proposed for one year.
