The Catholic Community of St. Mulumba Church in Idudi parish, Nansanga sub-county in Budaka district has joined hands to renovate the roof of their church that was destroyed by the president’s chopper after waiting for his pledge for 11 years in vain.

In 2011, President Museveni’s chopper blew off the roofs of the church rendering it very weak.

Museveni, who was in the district for his presidential campaigns pledged to have the roof renovated but its now ten years without the pledge fulfillment.

Rev. Father Raymond Mukoyonzo, the Budaka Parish Priest, says that when he was transferred to the Parish he found several letters authored by his predecessors reminding the president to fulfill his pledge to the church but none has yet been responeded too.

He adds that various people at the church have been following up with the president’s office, but nothing has come through until the frustrated Christians decided to mobilize funds for the last five years through their small resources to renovate the church.

Budaka Resident District Commissioner, George Magunda says he was not aware of the presidential pledge promising to inquire and get details on the matter.
