The Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese, Rt. Rev. Robert Muhiirwa has admitted that there is a need for the Catholic Church to change her way of operation in order to fit in the changing society.

 

This was during the Public Lecture for the Golden Jubilee celebration of St Mary’s National Seminary Ggaba on Friday.

 

Saying this, Bishop Muhiirwa has been responding to the advice from the State Minister for Higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo about co-opting professional lay faithful to provide guidance on how best the Church can approach the modern society.

 

Bishop Muhiirwa says that the changes in the society are demanding the Church to review its way of operation right from the seminaries up to the church where evangelization takes place.

 

However, Minister Muyingo while speaking to the Journalists after the keynote address from the Public Lecture, he emphasized that the need to change evangelization requires the Church to even upgrade St Mary’s National Seminary to a university level so that the priests can ably approach the modern world.

 

The Rector of St Mary’s National Seminary, Fr Lazarus Luyinda also agrees with the proposals of reviewing the plans and approaches of evangelization by developing new methods that could sustain the seminaries and also upgrade the training of
