His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala has been credited for his zeal for quality education in Uganda.

Cardinal Wamala a professional teacher from Makerere University where he got a post graduate diploma in pedagogical education in 1964 shortly after he was sent to teach at Bukalasa Minor Seminary until 1968, when he was appointed chaplain of Makerere University, he worked tirelessly to see that Ugandan children were taught in a manner that could contribute to their social development.

He was also an ardent support of practical skills that builds talent and self drive for any student to be able do something that can sustain him or herself instead of only looking for white caller jobs.

This was said by the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa at the thanks giving ceremony for the Cardinal Wamala’s 95th Birthday held from his birth place in Kamaggwa Rakai district Masaka diocese.

This coincided with the government announcement yesterday that education at all levels right from nursery that had stalled of almost two years due to Covid-19 pandemic are resuming on January 10th 2022 with automatic promotion to all learners from one class to another according to the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni although they will have to undergo remedial classes to be able to catch up.
