His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala has underscored the importance of the family as the source of growth and development.
He made this remark during a scientific celebration of 30 years anniversary for the marriage of the chief executive officer of Quality Chemical Emmanuel Katongole and his wife held at the Cardinal’s residence at Nsambya.
He said family is the cornerstone of moral growth, leadership, development, a center for learning governance and spirituality.
He reminded them that with apostolic blessing they received from Pope Francis in 2016 at their silver jubilee anniversary while in Rome; when the Pope gave them a Papal cap and urged them to keep it for the rest of their life in marriage.
Speaking at the same function, the Bishop of Kasana Luweero and Apostolic Administrator of Kampala Archdiocese, Rt. Rev. Paul Ssemogerere said all bishops in Uganda are proud of this couple because it has done a lot for them and the Church through the Friends of Bishops initiative.
In his speech, the celebrant Emmanuel Katongole said they have had a blessed family just because they were blessed by Cardinal Wamala who presided over their wedding on May 4th 1991 at Lubaga Cathedral and they are proud of him.
They were also joined by Mr. and Mrs. Cosmas Bwanika with whom they share their marriage anniversary.
It is on this occasion that Joseph Yiga, the chairperson of Friends of Bishops noted that as a saying states that behind a successful man, there must be a wife, commending Mrs. Resty Yiga for being a hardworking wife who has helped his husband a lot to the development.
Among members of friends of bishops who attended the function include; Fredrick Mutebi the initiative treasurer, and Mubiru Kalenge, among others.
