Police have established the identities of the five people that drowned in the water including the two who died after the boat they were sailing on capsized around Koome Island on Lake Victoria yesterday.

 

According to the police, the three survivors of the five victims have been rescued and are identified by only one name as Bosco, Bwire and Kalimbwe yet the deceased are Kenneth and Martin.

 

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan says that the boat allegedly carrying matooke, cassava and the five people was sailing from Luziru on Koome Island going to Mawotto landing site in Mpatta sub-county, Mukono district.

 

He says that all bodies of the deceased persons were retrieved yesterday by Marine Police and later conveyed to Kawolo mortuary.

 

Owoyesigyire says the police in Mukono district are currently investigating the incident of drowning with full particulars of both the survivors and the deceased persons yet to be established.
