Catholic Communicators from Uganda have joined the congregation of Hoima diocese to celebrate the world communications day at Bujumbula Cathedral.

The celebration under the theme; “We are members of one Family (Eph.4:25)” as chosen by Pope Francis attracted over 50 catholic communicators, Bishop Chairman Social Communications Commission Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev. Joseph Franzelli Bishop Emeritus of Lira diocese and Rt. Rev. Bishop Vincent Kirabo the ordinary of Hoima diocese who led the Eucharistic celebration.

Bishop Kirabo says the mission of communication in the Catholic Church is to proclaim the good news that brings joy, happiness and understanding among peoples.

He said, Pope Francis, reminds communicators during this 53rd world communications day of community and team work to be able to transform the society, which points out the important values solidarity dialogue and self respect and respect of others.

The Pope further emphasizes Mutual listening and dialogue based on responsible use of language which gives meaning to the ascension of the lord in human life.

Jesus is the perfect communicator, addressed all, irrespective of their differences, the duty communicators must emulate, respect, understand and communicate the gospel values, however this is impossible without prayer.

Bishop Kirabo said the celebration of the world communications day reminds the church to communicate beyond individual families, through the use of modern mass media with full respect to human dignity and freedom. The catholic media should also be supported financially and materially for effective evangelization.
