The Commission of inquiry into land matters has directed the Finance Ministry to halt the payment of Shillings 100billion as compensation to claimant of a rock underneath the Isimba power dam construction site.

The later dated June 26th stopping the payment planned for the financial year 2018/19 followed a complaint from Engineer Badru Kiggundu, the Chairperson of the Karuma and Isimba hydro power questioning the compensation since everyone was compensated before the project started.

However, Bamugemereire says their investigations into the matter show that the PAPs were indeed compensated after consenting to the valuations reports and the claimed 600 billion is erroneous.

Some of the claimants for the rock at Isimba hydro power dam are Tom Musisi Kazibwe, the former Ntenjeru South MP and the former Kayunga Town clerk, Charles Magumba. The two are demanding compensation of Shillings 132billion basing on a February 5th 2015 valuation report authored by the Senior Valuation Officer, John Moses Magala.

The 183 Megawatts dam is being constructed at a tune of US $ 567 million (about Shillings 1.2 trillion). The dam, 40kms downstream, from the newly built Bujagali Hydropower Dam, is being financed by the Chinese Export and Import Bank (Exim).
