The army and police have re-affirmed their presence on the streets and the home of the National Unity Platform-NUP president Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine to prevent the incitement of riots.

The Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Brig. Flavia Byekwaso and her Police counterpart, Fred Enanga, say there is more than enough information indicating that Kyagulanyi and other opposition politicians have plans of inciting youth to riot against the results of the presidential election that is why they have to maintain the presence of security to handle any situation.

This comes two days after the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama announced President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni as the winner of the January 14 presidential elections after he garnered 5,851,037 votes which is 58.64 percent while his closest rival Robert Kyagulanyi polled 3,475,298 votes making 34.83 percent of the total votes cast.

However, Kyagulanyi has since disputed the poll results and now Byekwaso and Enanga say that they have received information about planned city riots.

Brig Byekwaso says soldiers will remain on the streets within Kampala Metropolitan area that covers Kampala City, Wakiso and Mukono districts and other hot spots upcountry.
