Lawyers to the  National Unity platform (NUP) president have filed a case seeking for  court order allowing them access home and  talk to their client Robert kyagulanyi Ssentamu who is currently confined at his home in Magere Wakiso district.

Today a team of 3 lawyers led by Benjamin Katana, George Musisi and Anthony Wameri have been denied access to the home of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu in Magere by security on grounds saying that they must first get permission from head of security forces in the country.

Katana Benjamin while addressing journalists at Magere today, said that the action of the security is illegal and violation of human rights to detain someone at certain place without allowing his/ her lawyers, friends or family members to access him.

He has disclosed that this is deliberate move to deny Kyagulanyi chance to talk to his lawyers to support court proceedings to challenge the 14th Jan 2021 presidential results that were announced in favour of persistent Yoweri Museveni Kaguta.

Meanwhile the NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi says the illegal dentition of their presidential candidates at his home shows that president Museveni is guilty of stealing People’s victory and he doesn’t want Kyagulanyi to get it back.

Kyagulanyi (38), polled 3,475,298 votes representing 34.8% and the winner President Yoweri Museveni (76), of the NRM polled 5,851,037 votes that is 58.6% from a total of 10,359,479 votes cast against 18,103,603 registered voters according to results released on Saturday January 16 at Kyambogo cricket grounds by the Chairman Electoral Commission Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama.

The United States government yesterday also called for auditing of the election, citing credible reports of pre-election violence and election irregularities, not forgetting violence and brutality by security forces against members of the opposition according to the US Department of State spokesperson Morgan Ortagus.

The election left NRM with almost no win in the central region or Buganda region although it leads in Parliament with 313 members, followed by 77 independents, NUP came third with 58 members, FDC has 34 members, DP and UPC each has 9 members, and last JEEM and PPP each has One member.

There are 30 seats for the indirectly filled via special electoral colleges: 10 from the army, 5 youth MPs, 5 MPs to represent the elderly, 5 for the workers, and 5 for people with disabilities. In each of these groups, at least one woman must be elected (at least two for the army group).

This will leave Uganda with a total of 529 members of Parliament in the 11th parliament.
