The American government says it is ready to give Uganda full support in the fight against HIV/ AIDS.

 

In the 23rd edition of the state of Uganda Population Report(SUPRE) 2023 released by the National Population Council indicated that Uganda has made significant progress in fighting HIV/AIDS, however, the magnitude of the disease remains high and  An estimated 1.4 million people are living with HIV, 54,000 new HIV infections and 17,000 AIDS related deaths.

 

While giving his speech during the celebrations of 20 years of existence for Uganda Network of young people living with HIV/ AIDS (UNYPA) Vamsi Vasreddy the Deputy Director of US Mission said  USA government is here to help Positive Ugandans to have better life of living without any disturbances.

 

Vamsi said that media circulating information that US government is going to withdraw from supporting programs of people living with HIV/AIDS are fake and people should ignore.

 

He has advised youths to be vigilant because HIV/AIDs exist and kill.

 

In its 23rd edition of the state of Uganda Population Report (SUPRE) 2023 released in Kampala under the Theme Mindset change for Afovourable Population Age Structure, Aprerequisite for wealth creation’ It projected Uganda’s population in 2023 to stand at 46.2 million people, 51% are Females  and  49% Males, about 44% are aged 0-14 years, 53% aged 15-64 years and only 3% aged 65 and above.

 

Under the same report Uganda is said to have had significant progress in fighting HIV and AIDS, however, the magnitude of the epidemic remains high and an estimated 1.4 million people are living with HIV, 54,000 new HIV infections and 17,000 AIDS related deaths.

 

During the launch of the report at hotel African through her speech presented by the Pakwach district woman legislator Avur Jane Pacuto , the speaker of parliament Anita Annet tipped the government of Uganda to strategically invest in health, education, job creation, and good governance to thoroughly and effectively manage the ever growing population of Uganda.
