Abdul Ssemujju alias Minana, a co-accused to the former Commander of Special Investigations Unit of Uganda Police Force, Nixon Agasirwe has also pleaded to court to be released on bail.

Ssemujju who appeared before the Chairman Court Martial Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti presented three sureties who included two brothers and an uncle and prayed that court grants him bail just like his co-accused was granted bail.

The matter has been adjourned to the 9th may 2022 for a state reply.

Prosecution alleges that Minana and Agasirwe on August 13, 2017 at Lukooli village in Luweero district kidnapped one Vincent Kaliisa and illegally repatriated him back to Rwanda contrary to the panel code act.

Agasiirwe, a close associate of former police chief, Gen Kale Kayihura was arrested by the army in 2018 and detained at Makindye barracks however recently he was granted a non cash bail of 30 million shillings leaving his co-accused on this file in jail.

Meanwhile, the same court has sentenced one private Dennis Tumukunde to 2 years in prison for failure to protect war materials.

Private Tumukunde had pleaded to court to forgive him on grounds that he was sick with HIV and needed to access medical care outside prison but court played a deaf ear on this condition saying being sick isn’t a justification for one not to serve a punishment for the wrongs he did.
