A new research survey by Twaweza ni sisi has shown that 76% of Ugandans have no water and soap to wash their hands after visiting the toilet.

The survey also disclosed that over 40% of Ugandans drink unsafe water especially in rural areas.

According to the Sen. Programs officer Twaweza ni sisi Marina Nyanzi says that western region has the most high number of people accessing unsafe water followed by Eastern, Northern and last is the central region.

The survey further indicated that 70% of Ugandans especially in rural areas face a challenge of accessing clean water points and they walk long distances costing them much valuable time.

Now Twaweza Ni sis in partnership with the Parliamentary Forum on water, Sanitation and Hygiene are calling upon the government to increase funding for the water sector to increase and enable access to safe and clean water across the country.
