At least 55 people died in road accidents that occurred during the four days of Christmas, the traffic Police has disclosed.

 

According to a traffic police report, 206 road accidents occurred between 23rd and 26th December 2022.

 

Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police Spokesperson noted that out of the 206 road accidents, 47 were fatal while 95 were serious and 64 were minor.

 

Nampiima says of a total of 267 victims involved in these road accidents, 55 died while 212 people sustained injuries of which pedestrians and passengers were the majority victims.

 

Nampiima further noted that reckless driving and over speeding were the main contributors of these road accidents and Kampala Metropolitan policing area registered the highest number of accidents of about 102 during the four days of Christmas.
