Police have permitted a total of 1430 venues to display fireworks during the New Years Eve celebrations on 31st December.
Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that all the venues which have been cleared to display fireworks must meet the set police standards.
Enanga notes that the territorial police commanders have been tasked to review all the venues where fireworks will be displayed with rights to suspend or terminate the display of the fireworks once some standards are not met.
Enanga however asked the venue owners where fireworks will be displayed to coordinate with the police to ensure that the exercise goes on smoothly.
Meanwhile, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Oweyisigire has disclosed that they are holding several security meetings with organizers of various events to ensure safety of revelers.
