The Bishop of Lugazi diocese Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza has rallied Catholics in Uganda prepare for the Pastoral Council elections starting October this year.

Bishop Kakooza says the elections will run all way through to next year 2024 and have been organized early to give Catholics and Ugandans ample time to prepare for the general elections slated for 2026.

Elections of the 10 member committee start at the basic Christian community level, to the sub parish, Parish, Deanery and lastly at the Diocesan level.

The members to be elected include, head of laity and the Deputy, Treasure, Caritas officer, pontifical mission societies officer, representative of the youth male and female, head of the married couples male and female and head of the catholic movements.

During the celebrations for the 26th anniversary of the diocese at Lugazi Cathedral Bishop Kakooza encouraged Catholics to come up for the elections because its their responsibility to serve in that capacity.

He also revealed that Lugazi diocese has been chosen to lead in the 3rd June Uganda Martyrs’ day celebrations at Catholic Shrine Namugongo in 2025, therefore the year 2024 will be used to solicit for funds.
