Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Butebi Zaake, has blamed police for the cruel treatment as he was being driven from Entebbe International Airport to his home in Buswabulongo.

Police grabbed Zaake from the plane shortly after arriving at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday morning and put him in a waiting police van before speeding off to Mityana.

Zaake was returning from India where he had gone for specialized treatment.

Addressing journalists at his home, Zaake said that he felt pain in his body as he was being driven home.

Police had issued a statement on Wednesday evening saying only close members of Zaake’s family would be allowed to receive him at the Airport.

However, Emmanuel Butebi, Zaake’s father says they had adhered to the police orders but were surprised by the actions of the police.

When police dropped Zaake at his home, hundreds of his supporters thronged the home to welcome him back. Some of the residents broke down in tears.

Zaake, who was accompanied by Bugiri Municipality MP Asuman Basalirwa, said that despite what he has gone through, he is still firm and promised to continue with the struggle.
