Government is urged to reduce on taxes as well as rent fees to give youth chance to participate in productive work to reduce on youth unemployment in Uganda.

the coordinator of the Jobless-brotherhood group Augustine Ojobile says no matter the number of poverty alleviation programs by the government like the youth livelihood through programs (YLP), The Girl Child Initiative Uganda (GCIU), the Presidential Initiative on skilling the Girl Child among others, they will not give benefits because of high taxes that scare the business industry.

Meanwhile the members of the Uganda Young Democrats have challenged any celebrations of such nature when there is no clear strategy to fight the unemployment levels in the country.

The group’s Organising Secretary Isaac Mado says it saddens to see that the available jobs are for the revealed that the current jobs that are in the country are for the chosen few yet they all contribute to national development.

He advised the youths to fight for themselves and general wellbeing.

 

The group has announced plans to petition court preferably tomorrow over mistreatment, injustices and brutality inflicted on them by the police.
