Youths have been challenged to invest in the rural areas to minimize on rural urban migration of educated youths.

This was said by the State minister in charge of Youth and children affairs Sarah Mateke while delivering her massage during the cerebration of Africa youth Day at Sheraton hotel Kampala.

This year’s cerebration was under the theme dubbed: 1 million next level is knocking youth -led movements that transcend boarders organized in kampala

Minister Mateke said that government has put in place various legal and policy measures to support young entrepreneurs including National employment policy, Skilling strategic plan 20212-22, National Youth Council among others but youths live them in rural areas and come in urban areas to look for jobs.

Mateke adds if educated youths invest in rural areas it will help in job creation for uneducated in those irrespective areas as well as a booster to younger people to believe in themselves since they have role models.

However Mateke hastened to add that the high unemployment levels is not only Uganda’s problem but rather a  global issue which should not cause alarm as government is planning to address it.

Meanwhile Benard Odoi Onen the youth Mp Eastern Region says, youths must desist from looking at only White collar jobs but prioritise ordinary or technical jobs as they have helped many countries to achieve social economic development.
