Workers union COFTU befitted from the workers savings to the tune of Shs 400 million

The National Social Security Fund NSSF has been faulted for advancing 400m to workers union of COFTU without a memorandum of Understanding.

This was during the interaction between the NSSF board lead by Patrick Ayota and the select committee of parliament investigating the mismanagement of funds and corruption.

According to the findings by the committee chaired by Mwine Mpaka, Sam Lyomoki a board member of COFTU applied for the money from the fund without disclosing the purpose of the money.

The committee further found out that NSSF has so far given close to a billion to two workers bodies that are COFTU and NOTU without MoUs thus causing lose to workers savings.
