Police has re-emphasized its readiness in securing the Uganda Martyrs day celebrations at both the Catholic Shrine and the Anglican sites with no terrorism threats registered.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that they are more than prepared to have these celebrations conducted peacefully without anything happening to the participants.

He says that they have mapped out all hotspots and also surrounded the areas around Namugongo and Nakiyanja with heavy deployment of a joint security task force.

Enanga says that residents of Namugongo should expect interruptions on their movements if they don’t plan early.

The annual event pays homage to 22 Catholic and 23 Anglican Martyrs who were executed for their faith on orders of Kabaka Mwanga between 1885 and 1887.
