As Uganda joined the world to mark the International Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, the Director of Sanyu Babies Home, Barbara Nankya has cautioned Ugandans especially the youth to avoid engaging in irresponsible sexual behaviors.

Valentine’s Day is associated with spending the day engaging in sexually immoral practices under the dubious claim of showing love to each other which has resulted in unwanted pregnancies and new HIV infections.

According to the new research made in 2022 and 2023, conceptions in Valentine’s week shoot up by 5 per cent higher than the rest of the year.

The study analyzed the data and inferred that 16,263 babies were conceived in Valentine’s week, while 16,344 conceived in the week after.

While receiving gifts from the MMAKS Advocates, a Law Firm led by Apollo Makubuya, Nankya explains that some of the children arrive at Sanyu Babies Home in disheartening ways; most of them are throwaways of society.

Nankya also elaborated on the 177 million shillings Solar Project which they are working on to ensure they cut operational costs.

Makubuya on behalf of MMAKS Advocates urged Ugandans to always support children’s homes.
