The government through Uganda Revenue Authority -URA has declared its target of collecting 28 trillion shillings in the forthcoming Financial Year 2023/2024.

While presenting the URA work plan to the Parliamentary Finance Committee chaired by Keffa Kiwanuka, the State Minister for Finance and Planning Amosi Lugolobi says that the expansion in the tax collection target by the Authority will only be based on improving the tax administration and regimes but not introducing new taxes.

He further added that the government will also focus on domestic revenue mobilization, tax incentives, promotion of investments, Import substitution, and others.

The coming financial year budget 2023/2024 will amount to 50 trillion and URA is expected to collect 28 trillion shillings against the current financial year budget of 48 trillion shillings where URA has to collect 25 trillion shillings.
