The Ugandan Police Force has applauded their own Stg. Esther Namaganda for the professional conduct even when the body guards of the retired Maj. Gen. Matayo Kyaligonza acted ruthlessly against her while on duty.

The police spokesman Fred Enanga told the press at Nagulu police headquarters in Nagulu that they have received apologies from Uganda people’s defence forces (UPDF) for the misconduct of their soldiers adding that a team led by the Traffic commander of Kampala metropolitan police (KMP) and CID commander KMP area has been instituted to assess the inconsiderate use of a government motor vehicle, assault case and abstracting an officer on duty.

 

They are also to engage the ministry of internal and foreign affairs to summon Kyaligonza to record a statement over the nasty incident against sgt. Namaganda.

 

UPDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Richard Karemire said that the two soldiers Lance Corporal Peter Bushindiki and Private Okurut John Robert, who were both deployed as Very Important Persons (VIP) guards attached to Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza were arrested as investigations into the incident continue. ‘”

 

They are now held at Military Police Headquarters. We reiterate our commitment to ensuring discipline of all ranks,” Karemire said.

 

The officers allegedly assaulting a traffic officer Sergeant Esther Namaganda who had stopped them from making a u-turn in the middle of the road at Seeta, Mukono district.. The incident was recorded and went viral which prompted public uproar over the conduct of the soldiers against a fellow traffic officer moreover a lady on duty.
