The opposition Uganda People’s conference (UPC) has advised the National Examination Board (UNEB) to plan early for the students in hard to reach Areas to avoid inconveniences during examinations.

UNEB last week released the time table for the 2023 Primary Leaving Examination -PLE, Uganda Certificate of Education UCE and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education-UACE final exams with a total of 1,224,371 candidates registered at all the three levels to sit for the exams that will commence on October 13th with briefing of UCE.

During a press briefing at the party headquarters in Kampala, Sharon Arach the UPC Spokesperson said UNEB has a task to make sure that hard to reach areas such as Buduuda and Islands among others are planned to stop incidents where students miss final exams because of poor roads or transport.

Arach adds that areas like Buduuda, emergency aircrafts must be put in place in case it rains and also speed boats must be available in island areas among others such that students write their exams in time.

Meanwhile, Arach has cautioned head teachers over stopping candidates to sit their exams because of failure to complete paying school dues, adding a mechanism must be put in place to help students pay balance after writing exams.

On November 21st, 2022, three of the 10 senior six candidates of Bukalasi Secondary School in Bududa district allegedly failed to show up for their Economics paper on day one of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education Examinations (UACE).
