The Uganda Olympic Committee-UOC has selected six boxers to take part in the upcoming Boxing Olympic Qualifier in Dakar, Senegal 2023.

The six boxers include; The Bombers Captain Joshua Tuka-mu-hebwa, Jonathan Kyobe, Isaac Zebra Ssenyange, Grace Nankinga, Shafik Mawanda and former Olympian Shadir Musa Bwogi.

The list signed by UOC Secretary General Beatrice Ayi-koru comes five days after UOC had previously omitted Bwogi and included Idrisa Mukiibi, who was later removed upon confirming his lack of interest.

For nearly two weeks, the Uganda Boxing Federation has been embroiled in a dispute with the National Olympic Committee over the allocation of slots for the country’s boxers.

The Federation has accused the Olympic Committee of disregarding their recommendations and including boxers whose recent performance and form could not be vouched for by UBF.

The differences came after the Uganda Olympic Committee released a list of nine athletes that will start late preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers due next month in Dakar, Senegal.
