The Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres is hopeful that Africa will have at least one permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council.

He disclosed this while speaking to the press at the sidelines of the ongoing G77 and China Summit at Speke Hotel Convention Centre Munyonyo saying that Africa hasn’t had any seat because it was not independent when the United Nation institution was created.

He adds that in the recent declaration by permanent member states, they are being favorable to at least one African permanent member of the UN and any injustices that were done in the past will be corrected.

His comments come at a time when African member states during the 19th Non Aligned Movement Summit that concluded on Saturday renewed push for at least two permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council.
