The Uganda National Meteorological Authority-UNMA has warned about more rains expected in the Eastern and some parts of Northern Uganda.
This has been disclosed by the Acting Executive Director of the Authority, Bob Alex Ogwang while releasing the projection report of the rainfall season of June, July and August indicating that even though rainfall will continue in those areas it will generally be a dry period over the southern parts of the country especially in the south west, central, Lake Victoria basin and some parts of the Eastern region.
He notes that this is influenced by the sea surface temperature over the Equatorial Pacific Oceans which are currently in neutral phase with increased chances of developing El-Nino conditions over the coming months.
Ogwang warned people living in the Mount Elgon region that includes districts of Mbale, Sironko, Manafwa, Bududa, Bulambuli, Namisindwa, Kapchorwa, Kween and Bukwo to prepare for near normal rain starting mid June and those living in the Northern region to prepare for average or near normal rains thus warning on the likely impact.
