Unlicensed clinics in Mbale city closed

Health officials of Mbale City Council together with a security team led by the Deputy Resident City Commissioner – RCC for Northern Division in Mbale City, Prossy Mwajuzi have carried out an operation against unlicensed clinics operating in the city.

This follows the death of a mother from Bukedi who lost her life while giving birth in one of the unlicensed clinics in the city centre along North road after many residents complained about the matter.

According to the Mbale City Health Officer, Dr. Moses Goni, many of the clinics operating in Mbale City do not have proper documentation and use unqualified staff to treat people, which put their lives in danger.

Meanwhile, the Deputy RCC Prossy Mwajuzi reveals that these clinics were becoming a security threat to the residents of Mbale City and that after getting a lot of complaints in her office she had to act fast to save more lives, before it’s too late.
