The National Examinations Board UNEB has revealed the traces of the recent leakage of the ongoing Uganda Certificate of Examinations (UCE) to the storage station in Busesa Iganga district.

UNEB Executive director Dan Odongo “standing” confirmed to the media at their offices in Ntinda that a scout sent to guard the exam confessed that he was paid UGX 1 million to give his keys to perpetrators of the fraud who circulated the examination papers on social media long before they were done by the candidates but the area supervisor and scouts have all arrested to aid investigations.

According to Odongo, over 26 people from various districts have so far been arrested in relation to the examination leakage, five were from Entebbe, five from Rwizi, four from Rwenzori west region, two from Serere, one from Amuria, nine from Kampala and one from Iganga.

They include private school teachers, a student, a director of a private school and bursar of a government school among others whom he declined to mention.

It was reported that some Senior Four candidates and teachers on October 18, 2017 Wednesday obtained copies of Chemistry and Christian Religious Education (CRE) papers hours before scheduled examination time. The information reached the social media and it’s reported a paper cost 500,000/=. It was not the only leakage but similarly the Biology, English and Mathematics papers were also reportedly leaked.

Odongo was briefing the press ahead of tomorrow’s PLE sitting with a total of  646,080 candidates of which 312,585 are males and 333,495 Female, expected to sitting from 12,751 centers.

8,000 scouts have been put on alert to monitor the exercise and ready to take any suspect by law. Currently no primary school is supposed to be teaching a P7 candidate and there should be no transporting of candidates out of the examination center to go for break or lunch according to Odongo.

Primary Leaving Examinations are to cover November 2nd and 3rd ,2017.
