The Uganda Human Rights commission (UHRC) has received a list of 25 people of the National Unity platform party NUP said to have been abducted by members of the security agencies.

This is after the commission wrote to the party on 28th November requesting them to provide it with the list of missing persons which they did the following day on 29th November 2022.

According to Commissioner Crispin Kaheru Kugiza the list has names of people who were abducted way back in 2019 up to date and they are now set to carry out a search together with security personnel in prisons and to establish their identities with the intention to reunite them with their families.

He also revealed that they are to invoke article 44 of the constitution that talks about torture and whoever will be found guilty will be dealt with individually.

Kaheru also noted that they have not registered any human rights violation case since the declaration of the lockdown in Mubende and Kasanda due to the outbreak of Ebola in the country hence applauding security personnel for the work well done.

He revealed this ahead of the celebration of human rights day scheduled for 10th this month in Nakawuka play ground Wakiso district.
