The Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) has rallied global leaders to join Uganda’s armed force in the fight against terrorism by the Allied Democratic Forces –ADF rebel group.

This followed a weekend attack by the suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels on a secondary School in Kasese district that claimed at least 42 lives, most of them students.

Addressing journalists in Kampala, the UHRC Chairperson Mariam Wangadya noted that terrorism is a global threat to democracy, rule of law, economic development, human rights, and stability and as such requires a multi-pronged response.

Wangadya criticized the gruesome murder adding that the action of attacking a school which is not armed is only done by cowardly rebels who fear facing the army.

She further demands for the release of six students who were abducted by the ADF rebels.

Wangadya has also advised the bereaved families to take legal action against the government, if they wish to, for failing to protect its citizens from suspected terrorists because there is no amount of condolence packages that can compensate for the lost human life.
