The Ministry of Internal Affairs has arrested two non Ugandan citizens for allegedly attempting to fraudulently acquire national passports.

According to the ministry, the suspects include Emmanuel Grace Okecha, a Nigerian national and Jeremiah Ndaisenga from Rwanda were arrested at the immigration office after having failed to explain to themselves as Ugandans to possess the passports.

Simon Peter Mundeyi, the Ministry of Internal Affairs Spokesperson says that Okecha accent slipped to Nigerian while Ndaisenga failed to maintain the name Caesar Agaba he had named himself at the interview desk.

Mundeyi says that Ndaisenga was found to have entered Uganda in 2016 as a tourist and also had two national identification cards of Rwanda and Uganda.

He expresses that the two suspects have been handed over to the joint investigations team of the Uganda Police and other security agencies for investigations.

However, Mundeyi warned foreigners with intentions of fraudulently acquiring Ugandan passports especially through Express processes to desist, adding that there is a serious verification team of experts that scrutinizes them before approval.
