Two girls have been rescued from suspected traffickers in Jinja City.

Jane Nangobi and Nusura Birungi, both aged 14 years, were trafficked from Kinu-Kayaga zone, in Namwendwa town council, Kamuli district to Jinja City, allegedly for employment as shop attendants.

When the girls reached Jinja City, unidentified men instructed them to wait in a restaurant along Gabula Road.

However, one of the workers at the restaurant became suspicious of the two men and when she asked them about their identities, they fled.

The two girls were later handed over to Kiira Regional Police headquarters. The girls told the police that they were working in one of the bars in Namwendwa trading center during the festive season and were promised decent jobs in Jinja City.

James Mubi, the Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson, says that they are tracing the families of the two girls and the alleged traffickers.
