The high court has set 11th /05/2020 as a day to give its ruling on whether to relax the bail conditions of retired Lieutenant General Henry Tumukunde.

This was after his lawyers led by Anthony Wameri filing an application seeking for relaxation of bail terms citing that it’s practically impossible for him to get bail given the said conditions.

Justice Wilson Kwesiga had declined on granting Tumukunde bail and advised him that next time when he is applying for bail he should present at least two sureties who are above his rank and still serving in the army and said he would reconsider his bail application after 30 days.

However according to the affidavit sworn in by Stella Tumukunde the wife of the applicant, the required sureties cannot be permitted by their Commandants to stand surety for someone who is moreover facing charges of treason .

But to prove that Tumukunde will abide by all regulations put against him, he has attached a copy of house title located in Kololo and also adduced three sureties who include his wife , family friend Matthew Rukikaire and a brother Hanninngton Karuhanga.

Tumukunde was arrested in March on charges of treason and illegal possession of firearms and Remanded to Luzira prison.
