The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety Police is to establish spot checks on all roads ahead of the opening of schools.

The opening of schools is usually characterized by traffic jams due to mass movement of people returning children to schools.

Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police Spokesperson says that in these spot checks they will be monitoring the load of all Bodabodas and public vehicles including taxis, mini buses and buses.

She further cautions public vehicles to respect road signage, speeding limits, caution on return journeys, overloading and the ban on loading of luggage on top of vehicles especially on taxis.

Meanwhile, Traffic Police has revealed that all impounded Bodabodas of riders without driving licenses will be penalized with a ticket of 40,000 shillings before their release at all Police stations.
