Three Allied Democratic Forces -ADF fighters have been arrested by the Uganda Peoples Defense Force -UPDF after crossing to Uganda.

The suspects were arrested through an intelligence-led operation by the UPDF 5 Mountain Battalion which is under the UPDF Mountain Division and they were found with three guns and 70 rounds of ammunition.

According to the UPDF Mountain Division Spokesperson Maj. Yusuf Bilal Katamba, the ADF fighters were arrested at Kyoga Village in Kasese district and these include Magid Lewis Maseruka (31) born of Bwera Kasese, Asuman Musa (17) of Sofia Village in Busia district, Abdul Amid (23) from Mujumbi village, Bukabwoli Sub county in Mayuge district.

He says they were tracked by the army intelligence after entering Uganda unfortunately one of them attempted to sneak out but by the help of the residents, he was arrested.

Katamba however calls on the ADF fighters to surrender and come out from the Congolese bushes instead of infiltrating into the communities.

Meanwhile, the UPDF squad operating under 405 Brigade headquarters in Nakapelimoru sub county Kotido district, recovered a gun from armed Karamojong warriors.

The tactical incident occurred last evening around 19th April 2023 as a squad stealthily fought theĀ armed cattle rustlers who had attempted to steal livestock from Naka-pe-li-moru community kraal in Kotido District.

As a result of fire exchange, one Sub machine gun, number 37858 without rounds of ammunition was recovered, one warrior was put out of action and others ran in disarray. No livestock was stolen.

According to Major Isaac Owere the third division armored division information officers says This particular night operation, like others before serves as strong warning to armed cattle rustlers as joint security forces continue to degrade criminal casing insecurity in the Karamoja Sub region.
