The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has released 5.08 trillion shillings to government institutions for quarter four that is April, May and June for this financial year 2022/23.

 

Among the funds released include 1.6 trillion shillings for wages 2.1 trillion shillings cater for non wages, 1.3 trillion shillings for government development and 24.19bn for arrears.

 

Others funds released to various government ministries, Departments and agencies include 137.974bn to Uganda Road Fund for road maintenance, 60.5bnshs for Kampala Capital City Authority and this includes 40bn for road maintenance and drainages, 264.6bn to Parish Development Model -PDM.

 

While releasing these funds at the Ministry Headquarters the ministries permanent secretary Ramathan Ggoobi appealed to accounting officers to ensure that they pay wages, salaries, pension and gratuity by 28th of every month and also priorities payment of service providers on time and avoid accumulation of arrears.

 

On Wednesday, President Yoweri Museveni directed the Minister of Finance to urgently release a quarterly contribution of UGX 6 billion for Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to fill the potholes, repairs and maintenance of roads.

 

Addressing the City leaders at State House Entebbe, the head of state revealed that he has been told only 30% of this money was released this financial year causing roads outside the African Development Bank AFDB project to fall into bad shape causing traffic jams.
