The electoral Commission has nominated four candidates for the presidential seat come 2021/26 general elections in Uganda.

The latest to be nominated this evening is General Gregory Mugisha Muntu of the Alliance for National Transformation.

Muntu has told the press that it will only be free and fair election once the ground of campaigning is leveled by EC, however Ugandans should not be intimidated but rather be firm and vote for candidates of their choice.

Before him the former Security Minister, Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde had been earlier on requested to first take a deed poll to clarify on the order of his names on the documents he had submitted to the Electoral Commission, he rectified the query with the Commissioner of oaths, and has been duly nominated as a presidential candidate.

Tumukunde later picked a clock as his symbol to be used on the ballot paper having registered as an independent candidate. Immediately the Justice Simon Byabakama the EC chairperson asked him to appoint an official agent to coordinate campaign meetings and media programs as part of the campaigns requirements to the Electoral Commission.

Tumukunde has said that free and fair elections define true democracy less of that Uganda needs leaders like him who can join hands with other opponents to liberate this country adding that his opponents in opposition should not only campaign but encourage Ugandan to turn up for elections.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the first person to be nominated is currently joining other party leaders at common wealth resort Munyonyo to launch his campaigns but he strongly warned Ugandans who are threatening peace to stand warned and to all Ugandans to avoid complacence to stay safe from Coronavirus.

Katumba John an independent who would be the fifth person to be nominated for the presidential seat has been differed for failure to pay the UGX 20 million in the bank and the only lady in the race Nancy Linda Kalembe nominated and independent who also has to pay the UGX 20 million in the bank,

The second day and final for the nomination of presidential candidates that is taking place at Kyambogo University grounds the National Unity Platform aspirant, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine; Patrick Oboi Amuriat of Forum for Democratic Change party and Independents; Willy Mayambala, Fred Mwesigye and Joseph Kiiza Kabuleeta.

Each nominated candidate has been handed over a new double cabin with bodyguards.
