The Apostolic Administrator of Kampala Archdiocese Bishop Paul Ssemogerere has commended the late Rev. Fr. Expedito Walakira as a priest who has lived to his call in priesthood, hardworking person, lover and promoter of Legion of Mary.

 

He made the remarks during the requiem mass and final send off of the late Fr. Expedito Walakira, the former Parish Priest of Mengo Kisenyi at Nsambya parish this afternoon.

 

Bishop Ssemogerere noted that Fr Walakira worked tirelessly for the betterment of the Christians whenever he was posted and also protected the Archdiocese.

 

Fr. Walakira who has been the head of Legion of Mary in Uganda succumbed to Cancer on Tuesday May 18, 2021 at Nsambya Hospital a disease that caused him ill health for close to Seven years.

 

Fr Walakira died at 67 years of age, he was ordained a priest in 1979 as a priest of Kampala Archdiocese and served in Buyege, Kamwokya, Nakulabye and Mengo Kisenyi Parishes.

 

At the same time the Archdiocese is mourning the demise of Fr. Edward Ssekalembe the assistant Parish Priest of Gayaza parish who will be buried tomorrow at the same parish.
