The International Crimes Division of the High Court has at last granted bail to the 8 suspects accused of being involved in the murder of former Police Spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

Justice Lydia Mugambe, said bail to the accused had stayed since 19th/03/2019 when she made a directive to have them released but it was due to failure by both the defence and state to meet the bail conditions

 

The suspects are Sheikh Abdu Rashid Mbazira alias Abdu Sewajja alias Muhammad Buyondo, Higenyi Aramaathan Noordin alias Taata Abdullazack, Yusuf Mugerwa alias Wilson, Bruhan Balyejusa alias Jimmy Masiga Ogutu and Joshua Magezi Kyambadde alias Abdu Rahman.

The others are Jibril Kalyango alias Abu Aisha, Yusuf Siraje Nyanzi alias Jimmy Ssentamu and Shafik Kasujja.

 

However the suspects couldn’t be released after SSP Ekalam informed court they had a production warrant from Nakawa court dated May 23rd/05/2019 presenting new charges against the same suspects.

 

The defense led by Counsel Anthony Wameri tried to secure thier release in vain however the production warrant did not have any charges against the accused.

 

The suspects are accused of killing Felix Kaweesi on March 17th 2017 in Kulambiro in Nakawa division together with his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver Geoffrey Mambewo.
