Taxi stages in Kyaliwajjala, Wakiso district have all been suspended for three days from operation starting from 1st -3rd June to allow a clear flow of traffic for pilgrims that are to participate in this year’s Martyrs day celebrations at both the Catholic and Anglican Shrines.

 

According to the Traffic Guidelines released this morning by the Kampala Metropolitan Trafficking Police also show that vehicles and motorcycles without stickers are restricted from accessing both the Catholic and Church of Uganda Martyrs Shrines starting from June 1st.

 

Rogers Kauma Nsereko, the Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police Commander while releasing the Martyrs day celebration traffic guidelines at Naguru, says that those taxis that will be found on those restricted stages will be impounded and parked at Jinja road police station.

 

He says that all vehicles for the VIPs, Service Providers, Medical Services and specialized pilgrims among other people have been given cards with red, blue, green and white colours according to their categories.

 

Nsereko further says that people residing in the areas around Namugongo and Kyaliwajjala that won’t participate in the celebrations will be allowed to either stay or leave their residences in those three days but in respect of the security guidelines.

 

He however says that Jinja- Kampala highway will operate normally while other roads will become one way like Kireka-Kyaliwajjala and Kireka -Kyaliwajjala yet some trade centers will be restricted to security officers.

 

In the traffic guidelines released by the Traffic and Road Safety Police for Kampala Metropolitan indicates that vehicles and motorcycles without stickers will be stopped from the cutoff points yet taxis staging
