Taxi operators under their umbrella Uganda Transport Development Agency (UTRADA) have threatened to carry out a demonstration showing their dissatisfaction over the immediate release of Yasin Ssematimba, the chairperson of Kampala Operational Taxi Stages Association (KOTSA) after his arrest on Tuesday by security organs on allegations that heads illegal groups who beats drivers and interfere their work.

Speaking to our reporter, UTRADA Vice Chairperson Kasto Ssekyaya said it is unfair for some government officials to order for the release of such a person who heads the group that has resulted into loss of lives and malicious damage of vehicles and vowed to do whatever it costs for his rearrested.

However, Ssematimba denied being involved in all regular fights and fracas, saying he is being implicated because of some money collected on stages and assured to work hand in hand with security organs by feeding them with information regarding the beating of taxi operators and interference of transport industry.
