The Uganda Revenue Authority – URA has implored tax payers who are dissatisfied with any tax assessment to embrace the Alternative Dispute Resolution -ADR mechanism. 

 

Speaking at the fourth edition of the URA E – Bomba Ya Business Summit at Nakawa, the Authority’s Commissioner for Legal Services and Board Affairs Patience Tumusiime said that the mechanism has helped expedite resolution of tax disagreements.

 

Tumusiime reveals that last year, the authority was able to collect 365bn through the mechanism and there are about 300 cases still pending in the court system valued at about 1trillion shillings.

 

Moses Kaggwa, the Director Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development encourages the public to pay the tax to avoid leaving in country full of debts from foreigners.
